Welcome tot he internet's first and best home for all things Tessalindrian. We've finally decided to update things with the surprise release of Earthbound. In the meantime, please enjoy a brief overview for the 5 released book in the series.
The first book in the Portals of Tessalindria series is A Sword for the Immerland King by F.W. Faller. Published in 2002, this Christian fantasy/visionary fiction novel explores themes of principle, intrigue, and spiritual maturity. I loved it and expected it to be a mainstream success but it has mostly flown under the radar.
Set on the remote planet of Tessalindria, a peaceful and highly skilled blacksmith lives by a strict rule: he refuses to forge weapons that cause injury. When King Sandihar of Immerland demands the smith forge a sword for his birthday, the smith’s principled refusal lands him in the royal prison. To resolve this impasse, the king's daughter and the smith’s son take matters into their own hands, sparking a chain of events that exposes the complex history of the kingdom and warring mountain clans
Lonama’s Map is the second visionary fiction novel by F.W. Faller in the Portals of Tessalindria collection. It is not a physical world map for navigation, but rather a legendary and shrouded historical map deeply intertwined with Tessalindrian culture and spiritual philosophy.
The plot follows two thieves, Rindar and Minxa, who accidentally steal the legendary map during a botched robbery in the city of Vindarill. Pursued by authorities, they escape through one of Tessalindria’s time portals.
Tveeling or Mankar's Bane is the third installment in F.W. Faller's Christian speculative fiction Portals of Tessalindria series. The story follows twin sisters separated when one is captured and sold into slavery, sparking a galaxy-spanning tale of intrigue and adventure that eventually threatens the empire of the malevolent Emperor Mankar.
Driven by ancient prophecies that the twins will cause his downfall, Mankar becomes obsessed with unraveling this threat. The family's quest to reunite launches them into terrifying journeys of self-discovery where courage and sacrifice bring them close to death.
Book four of F.W. Faller's Portals of Tessalindria series, titled BitterLeaf, shifts to an urban fantasy setting that mirrors a 1990s society where the populace has largely forgotten God. The narrative follows accomplished biochemist Wilner Meltoran, who helps commercialize a groundbreaking drug that promises to reverse aging and restore human bodies to their ultimate healing capacities.
When deadly and unexpected side effects emerge from this pursuit of immortality, Wilner is driven underground to seek shelter. He discovers the oppressed, misunderstood Sessashian cult and begins to learn spiritual teachings that alter his life. This installment blends societal critique with a profound tale of cultural and spiritual confrontation.
In Earthbound, the main character (Mael) escapes an assassination attempt by religious leaders by tumbling through a confusing space-time portal. He lands in Jerusalem two days before the crucifixion of Jesus and spends the next 40 days interacting with the apostles before his eventual return to Tessalindria.
